Prophecies is a lot of fun.
Just make sure that you don't run your way through on the first play or the story won't make sense ( I think this is why a lot of folks don't like the storyline. ) You'll get access to some of the best looking armors in the game (for the core proffessions anyway.) If you create a new character there, you'll get to experience Pre-Searing Ascalon, which is still one of the most beautiful places in game IMO. The missions will be easier for you than they were originally designed to be as you have access to skills from Factions and Nightfall that the enemies weren't designed around. Also, you can buy it in the U.S. for $9.99 on sale at some stores. Not sure what the price is in the UK, but it's not much of a financial risk here. Hope you get it and enjoy it... |

I loved prophecies! You have so much variety and the storyline is the best one of the three games. I also have all the games and have brought all of my factions and nightfall characters back through prophecies. Even though the story doesn't change it is fun to experience with different character classes. If you wish you can get the package with gwen and prophecies together and get a lot more content for your characters.
Hope this helps Definitely worth it in my opinion... |

my personal thoughts on prophecies is that i dont like it.
I bought it the first week it came out, lost interest in the game fast and quit GW til factions came out. I own factions, NF, EOTN beat them all and loved them, tried prophcies again and lost interest after 3 missions. I think its a very good game for learning the game however as leveling is much slower and monsters take longer to get good. Personally tho i didnt find it worth the money. remember tho, this is just my opinion, a lot of people like this one a lot. |

You would be getting a huge amount of content and gameplay for only $10-$20. Great bargain for the amount of gameplay. Heck after you run one of your established characters through the game and you find normal mode easy, do it on hard mode. Its not that big of a monetary risk for a game that many consider the best of the series. BTW I like it, its fun.

Buy it , and enjoy it, its the best chapter of the lot in my opinion,i have all three and EotN,and Prophecies has the best storyline and it covers a huge area. One thing i say is try to avoid getting run to places as you will miss out on a large portion of the game.
The scenery in Prophecies is superb as well, go on treat y'self for christmas Last edited by Angelic Upstart; Dec 23, 2007 at 03:08 PM // 15:08.. |

I started with Prophesies and then got the others as they came out.
Great storyline and as has been said a slow character progression Its a long campaign bigger than the others in the series. Fist you have the presearing which is the equivalent of the start islands you can stay here as long as you wish but 8th level is about when its hard to gain xp any more. Then comes the searing where the land is changed and the main story begins. You have a lot of gameplay before you reach 20th level because there isn't the factions 3000 pt missions which boost you easily to 20th in no time at all. More importantly and some see this as a limitation is you have to cover over half the map before you ascend and then become a 200 point character. I have never repeated this since I got factions and nightfall so don't know how I would feel about starting a prophesies character and playing the game this way. When I did it the first 3 times it was the only game in town now I am a little used to rapid leveling. Good storyline vast lands to explore excellent core skills many of which are gained by mission reward instead of just paying for them. Of course if you get the game and hate the slow progression then simply cross from one of the other games and follow the story from there. It will be a lot easier then starting from scratch but there are many decent challenges esp in the southern shiverpeaks and fire islands to make it worth while. |

Prophecies by far has the best story line of all of Guild Wars. It also has some great skills that you will wonder how you lived without. The only problem is that since it is the oldest campaign, you will probably have trouble finding groups for a majority of the missions except towards the end of the game.

ah prophecies....my favorite place to GET FREE SKILLS....(and the only place that has skills quests!). There is a lot of content as has been said, and while there are no end game armors or weapons there are the titan quests and sorrows furnace (which had the first introduction of green weapons!). There are other armors you can get from places like dorknars forge, the granite citadel or marhans grotto that are not like the ones from either factions or nightfall.
Some of the wonders of prophecies: killing Glint, ascension-killing yourself as a doppelganger, Rurik!, finding out just who is the lich (if you had nightfall you might not know why he's in that mission), and if you start a new character seeing ascalon as it was before the charr invaded. If you want to get some titles you will need to have prophecies, like legendary guardian, legendary cartographer or legendary skill hunter. And if its only $10 its a great buy! (so why NOT get it?) Even at $20 (or $30) its still a chapter I would recommend buying. |

Prophecies is a bit dull for my tastes.. The maps are huge and it takes forever to get anywhere. Ascension is also annoying. *shrug* The skills are very nice to have access to though, in fact I think they might be some of the best PVP skills around.
I find Nightfall and eye of the north _A LOT_ more interesting. |

But, other than that, the biggest thing I liked about Prophecies was that it took a lot longer to get your character fully developed. But, since you already have Factions and Nightfall, you already have maxed out characters and should know more about what you're doing. But there is a lot of fun and interesting things to do in Prophecies, particularly things like Ruins of the Tomb of the Primeval Kings and Sorrow's Furnace |
